AGM postponed- 4 Sep

NMA's Executive Board Meeting on 4 Sep decided to postpone its Annual General Meeting to be held on 13 Sep 2013 until further notice.

165 new peaks recommended to open- 8 Sep

A recent report of the sub-committee formed under the Ministry of Culture‚ Tourism and Civil Aviation (MoCTCA) has recommended names of 165 new peaks to be opened for adventure tourism.

Along with the 165 peaks‚ now there will be around 491 peaks for adventure tourism and mountain expeditions. Currently‚ there are around 326 peaks that are allowed for mountain expeditions and adventure sports. The sub-committee‚ under the coordination of former president of Nepal Mountaineering Association Ang Tshering Sherpa‚ recommended an additional 165 peaks for adventure tourism. The report includes one 8000-metre mountain‚ 12 mountains above 7000 metres but less than 8000 m‚ 143 mountains which are above 6000 m but lower than 7000 m‚ and nine mountains above 5000 m. The 165 new peaks also include the 23 peaks that were selected earlier by the government during the formal opening of the Diamond Jubilee Celebration of the first ascent of Mt Everest. The sub-committee also recommended the names of two new peaks as Hillary Peak (7681 metres) and Tenzing peak (7916 metres). They lie between Mt Everest and Mt Cho-oyu.

UIAA / UAAA General Assembly- 27 Sep

NMA President Zimba Zangbu Sherpa, General Secretary Deebas Bikram Shah, Mr. Surendra Prasad Sapkota, Under Secretary, Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation departed for Pakistan to participate in UAAA General Assembly to be held from 29 Sep - 1 Oct 2013.

Similarly, NMA President and General Secretary will also attend UIAA General Assembly in Switzerland from 2 - 5 Oct 2013. They will be also accompanied by Mr. Ang Tshering Sherpa- IPP and Honorary Member of UIAA and Mr. Purna Chandra Bhattarai, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation.

Basic Introductory Mountaineering / Trek Leader Training (Summer Course) completed- 26 Sep

Basic Introductory Mountaineering / Trek Leader Training (Summer Course) was conducted from 14 Sep - 26 Sep 2013 at Kathmandu and Kakani. 15 trainees participated in the training, which was jointly organized by NMA, Petzl Foundation and SNV.

Royalty fee / garbage deposit system at bank- 27 Sep

NMA will issue climbing permit to the trekking companies only after they submit the receipt of the deposit of royalty fee and garbage fee at Nabil Bank. The new system will come into effect from 1 October 2013. The trekking companies can deposit the fee at the following branches of the Nabil Bank.

Durbar Marg, Kantipath, Thamel, Maharajgunj, Chabahil, New road, Pulchowk and Baneswore.

317 tourists visitors on World Tourism Day- 27 Sep

Different categories of 317 tourists visited International Mountain Museum , Pokhara on 27Sep -World Tourism Day. NMA made 50% discount on all the tickets on the occasion of World Tourism Day.

Opening time of NMA during Dashain and Tihaar- 30 Sep

DNMA will open from 11:00 am - 2:00pm on the following days of Dashain and Tihaar holidays for the smooth issuance of climbing permits.
