Annual General Meeting concluded- 15 SeptemberThe Central Annual General Meeting was concluded on 14 September 2010 at Hotel Hyatt Regency, Boudha. The meeting was divided in two sessions. Minister for Tourism and Civil Aviation Sharat Singh Bhandari, chief guest for the program, inaugurated the first session of the program by lighting panas. Mr. Kishor Thapa, Secretary for Ministry of Tourism and Civil Aviation, was also present in the program. The welcome speech was given by Ist Vice President Mr. Nima Nuru Sherpa. Secretary of the ministry applauded the mountaineering development activities initiated by NMA. He also expressed his satisfaction over the management of International Mountain Museum and opined that International Mountaineers' Memorial Parks should also be developed as new tourism product of Nepal. Secretary also revealed the plan of government to open more peaks for climbing and handover them to NMA for operation. Minister Sharat Singh Bhandari wished for the success of general assembly held after three years. He also hoped the plans and programs endorsed by the general assembly will be implemented and mountaineering sector would be developed more. In the IInd Session attended by 31% of the total general members, General Secretary Mr. Deebas Bikram Shah presented the progress report of the fiscal years of 2064/2065, 2065/2066 and 2066/2067. Likewise, Treasurer Ms. Asha Gurung presented the financial report of the same fiscal years. They also presented the plans- programs and estimated income- expenditure for the fiscal year 2067/2068 in the meeting. The general members deeply discussed in the presented programs and budget and questioned General Secretary, Treasurer on some matters related with the budget. After much heated discussion, the general meeting endorsed all the plan-programs and budget. Finally, IInd Vice President Mr. Santa Bir Lama thanked all the general members for their presence and assistance in approving the programs for the fiscal year 2067-2068. UIAA General Assembly- 19 SepNMA President Mr. Zimba Zangbu Sherpa, General Secretary Mr. Deebas Bikram Shah, Immediate Past President Mr. Ang Tshering Sherpa and government official Mr. Laxma Bhatterai, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Tourism and Civil Aviation, are participating in the General Assembly of Union of International Alpine Association (UIAA) to be held in Bornio, Italy from 5-10 Oct. The next year's General Assembly is scheduled to be held in Kathmandu, Nepal. NMA President's Bangladesh visit- 22 Sep
The Everest Build 2010- 19 SepNMA permitted Habitat for Humanity International for the usage of premises of International Mountain Museum (IMM), Pokhara for its program "THE EVEREST BUILD 2010" to be held from 1-8 October 2010 only. NMA also waived 50% on the entrance ticket to all foreign participants only to IMM for 3 Oct 2010 only. Regarding the construction of the perfabricated bamboo model House (3ft X 3 ft), the organizer is permitted to construct the house outside IMM building on the open ground area, on condition that it would be removed and area cleared after the completion of program. World Tourism day ( 27 Sep) celebrated- 27 September 201031st World Tourism Day was celebrated with the slogan of "Tourism & Biodiversity". At the initiation of Thamel Tourism Development Board, a morning procession was carried out which started from Tridevi Marg and went through different parts of Thamel and ended at Tridevi Marg. Chief Executive Officer of Nepal Tourism Board Mr. Prachanda Man Shrestha inaugurated the rally by cutting the ribbon. NMA with all the executive board members and staff also participated in the procession. Free entry IMM- 27 September 2010On the occasion of 31st World Tourism Day, entry fee for all the domestic and international tourists to International Mountain Museum was waived. Opening hour of NMA during Dashain, Tihaar & Chhath festival- 27 September The Central Secretariat decided to open secretariat as per the following during Dashain, Tihaar & Chhath festival.
