Prachanda at International Mountain Museum – 4 October 2006Maoist Supreme Leader Prachanda made a surprise visit on 4 October 2006 to our International Mountain Museum IMM, Pokhara. Pachanda was very much impressed with our development and management of IMM as an asset to Nepal and similarly to the world, and assured his cooperation for further strengthening the programs of IMM in the future. Executive Board Meeting- 8 October 2006Executive Board Meeting held on 8 October 2006 approved a report of UAAA General Assembly 16-17 September 2006, Beijing, China, presented by the participating team. IInd Vice President Mr. Bhumi Lal Lama informed the board that due to his some of unavoidable circumstances, he would not be able to participate in UIAA General Assembly 13-15 October 2006, Banff, Canada. Therefore, the Board approved the travel of our President and Mr. Rishi Ram Lamichhane, Joint Secretary of Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation to participate in Banff, Canada. President Mr. Ang Tshering Sherpa also informed that he would present a power point presentation on mountaineering tourism of Nepal at Adventure Travel World Summit on 20 October 2006 in Seattle, Washington, USA. Condolence Program- 9 October 2006NMA organized condolence program on 9 October 2006 in the memory of our chief advisor Dr. Harka Gurung and the two other general members- Mr. Mingma Sherpa and Mr. Mingma Norbu Sherpa in Hotel Annapurna. They were onboard on Shree Airlines, which crashed on 23 September 2006 at Ghunsa, Taplezung. Death of Liaison Officer- 10 October 2006Mr. Saroj Timilsina, Liaison Officer of Joint Nepal Japan Friendship Golden Jubilee Nangpai Gosum Expedition 2006 passed away due to high altitude sickness on 10 October 2006. After reaching the base camp, he was on his way down and died at Thame (3800m). Secretariat Meeting- 15 October 2006NMA Secretariat meeting decided to organize different programs to mark the 34th NMA Day on 1 November 2006. The meeting also decided to request Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation (MoCTCA) to name any unnamed peak of above 6000m in honor of Dr. Harka Gurung. Similarly, NMA also requested to name road from Lamzung to Beshi after Dr. Gurung. NMA President returned- 25 October 2006After completion of a successful UIAA General Assembly in Banff, Canada and Adventure Travel World Summit Conference in Seattle, USA, NMA President Mr. Ang Tshering Sherpa and Mr. Rishi Ram Lamichhane, Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation returned to Kathmandu. Success of expedition- 26 October 2006Five members team of Nepal and two members of Japan successfully reached the summit of Nangpai Gosum, 7321m. The expedition was carried out to mark the completion of 50th years of diplomatic relationship between Nepal and Japan and Golden Jubilee Celebration of Mt. Manaslu. Mr. President Ang Tshering Sherpa was the General Expedition Leader of Nepal where as Mr. Masuo Moriya, President, Japan Workers' Alpine Federation (JWAF) was the General Expedition Leader of Japan.
