Summiteers' march in Copenhagen- 3 Nov

Ministry of Coil and Forest Conservation has informed its plan of gathering world's leading summiteers to draw the world attention toward the environmental degradation taking place in the Himalayas as a result of global warming and climate change at Radhuspladsen, Copenhagen on the sidelines of the 15th Conference of the United Nations Framework for Climate Change (COP-15) in Copenhagen on December 11 coinciding with the International Mountain Day. COP-15 is scheduled for December 7-18. The ministry has planned to extend an invitation to renowned climbers like Mrs Junko Tabei, Hon Rienhold Messner, Prof Peter Habeler, Morice Herzog, Kurt Dimberger, Chris Bonnington, Ken Noguchi, Ed Vister and Bekka Gustafser, and others. From home, some 20 summitteers, including the 19 times Mt Everest climber Appa Sherpa and young mountaineerDawa Steven Sherpa.

Nepal- listed in top ten travel destinations- 4 Nov

The Lonely Planet `Best in Travel 2010' has listed Nepal along with El Salvador, Germany, Greece, Malaysia, Morocco, New Zealand, Portugal, Suriname and the United States as one of the top ten travel destinations.

Airport closure program withdrawn -8 Nov

Unified Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist) has withdrawn the closure of Tibhuvan International Airport on November 10, 2009. All international flights operate to Nepal as scheduled.

Famous Slovenian mountaineer died during mountaineering- 15 Nov

The body of famed Slovenian mountaineer, Tomaz Humar, 40, was found death. He had been missing in the mountain since November 10. He was considered one of the best and popular climbers of his day. He climbed Mt Dhaulagiri from the south side, Pumori from the south, Amadablam from the north ridge and Mt Nuptse from the north face. His reputation as a mountaineer who took up most challenging routes on mountains all over the world in Alpine-style solo climbing will live on.

Reinstatement of Executive Board- 19 Nov

District Administration Office mentioned the formation of Central Ad-hoc Committee, Taskforce, Executive Board led by Mr. Zimba Zangbu Sherpa and Mr. Shange Sherpa was not accordance with the statute of NMA and reinstated the elected executive board led by Mr. Ang Tshering Sherpa. The executive board is given terms of reference to conduct all the activities governed by its statute and to hold election within three months.

Oldest climber gets Guinness Certificate- 23 Nov

Min Nahadur Sherchan, who successfully ascended Mt. Everest on 25 May 2008 at the age of 76 years 340 days, received Guinness World Record certificate for setting the world record of the oldest climber. The certificate was handed over by Rt. Honorable Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal amidst a program organized on 23 Nov. He also aimed to break his world record by climbing Everest once again in 2014 at the age of 84.

Third National Tourism Fair - 23 Nov

Minister for Tourism and Civil Aviation Sharat Singh Bhadari inaugurated Third National Tourism Fair on 23 Nov at Bhrikuti Mandap. There were 83 stalls displayed at the fair with an objective to preserve rural tourism and create networking between tourism entrepreneurs. NMA also placed its stall in order to provide information to public about the objective and activities of NMA. The exhibition ended on 25 Nov.
