NMA Day- 1 NovNMA's 35th Anniversary was celebrated at NMA Secretariat. The Chief Guest for the program Mr. Madhav Prasad Ghimire, Secretary, Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation hoisted the flag of NMA and freed the pigeons- the symbol of peace. In his speech, Mr. Ghimire appreciated the activities of NMA and assured for the full cooperation from MoCTCA in carrying out the mountaineering activities. In the program, NMA President Mr. Ang Tshering Sherpa announced the recipients of Dr. Harka Parbatiye Puraskar, Kumar Khadga Adventurous Award and Dawa Norbu Mountain Journalism Award as Mr. Takashi Miyahara, Nepal Mountaineering Instructors' Association (NMIA) and Mr. Binay Gurubacharya respectively. Mr. Miyahara has been involved in the development of Nepalese Tourism since long time where as NMIA has played a pivotal role in rescue activities in Ghunsa, Paldor. Similarly, Mr. Gurubacharya has been involved in the promotion of tourism through media. Newly appointed Chief Advise Prof. Dr. Soorya Lal Amatya also expressed his full support for NMA's involvement in the mountain tourism activities. A press meet was also held at NMA premises to inform about the NMA's victory as President and General Secretary in UAAA- the umbrella organization of Asian Alpine Clubs. Kathmandu International Mountain Festival 2007 - 18 NovNMA will put a stall at the premises of Kathmandu International Mountain Festival 2008 to be held from 7-11 Dec 2007 at City Hall. The stall will display NMA profile, mountaineering equipment and climbing activities etc to generate mountaineering awareness among the public. General Members to Summiteers- 18 NovNMA started distribution of the general membership to successful Mt. Everest summiteer and two times successful summiteer of two separate peaks of above 8000m and mountaineers having completed Advance Mountaineering Course and involved in the mountaineering sector for more than three years as per the Revised Statute 2063.
