Certificate distribution program- 4 May
Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA) distributed certificates to all the newly nominated members of different NMA committees and instructors and trainees of Advance Mountaineering Course 2017-2018 in the special program organized on 4 May 2018 at Nepal Tourism Board, Bhrikutimandap. Press Conference on Himalayan Travel Mart 2018 A press conference was organized 14 May 2018 to inform about Himalayan Travel Mart 2018 scheduled from 1-3 June 2018 in Kathmandu. Secretary of NMA Tikaram Gurung participated in the press conference on behalf of NMA. International Climbing Elite Tournament 2018, Ningbo, China-23 May NMA Executive Board Member Dipendra Pandey is leading the athletes team of Nepal- Mr. Pemba Sherpa and Ms. Pancha Maya Tamang, to participate in International Climbing Elite Tournament 2018 scheduled for 26-27 May 2018 in Ningbo, China. The event is organized by Chinese Mountaineering Association (CMA). NMA's participation on UAAA Council Meeting 2018- 25th May 2018 NMA President, Mr. Santa Bir Lama, First Vice President Mr. Deebas Bickram Shah and General Secretary Mr. Kul Bahadur Gurung participate in UAAA Council Meeting, which was held from 22nd – 25th May 2018 and hosted by Mountaineering and Sport Climbing Federation of Republic of Kazakhstan. During the meeting it was decided to organize UAAA Peak joint expedition on 2019 at Nepal.
11th International Sagarmatha Day -29th May Ministry of Culture Tourism and Civil Aviation organized a program to celebrate 11th International Sagarmatha (Everest) Day on 29th May 2018. The program started with the morning procession from Sanchaya Kosh Building, Thamel and concluded at Nepal Tourism Board (NTB). Then Mr. Krishna Prasad Devkota, Chairman for International Sagarmatha Day Main Organizing Committee and Secretary of Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation offered garland to the statues of Tenzing Sherpa, Edmund Hillary and Boris Lisanevich. The Chief Guest for the program was Hon'ble Minister Minister for Water Supply and Sanitation BinaMagar. Mr. Krishna Prasad Devkota, Chairman for International Sagarmatha Day Main Organizing Committee and Secretary of Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, high level government officials, Everest summiteers and other mountaineers, advisors and members of Nepal mountaineering Association (NMA), and representative from different tourism related organization were present in the program. After welcome speech by Mr. Santa Bir Lama, Member Secretary for 11th International Sagarmatha (Everest) Day main Organizing Committee and President, Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA) program observed one minute silence in the memory of deceased mountaineers. During the program Mr. Deepak Raj Joshi expressed his view on importance of mountain tourism for the development of tourism sector in Nepal. Mr. Mingma Sherpa- the first Nepali mountaineer to climb all the fourteen mountains above 8000 m, also shared his experience of climbing 7 highest peaks of different continent. Dr. Seth Sicroff, Project Director of Sir Edmund Hillary Mountain Legacy Medal project highlighted on Sir Edmund Hillary Mountain Legacy Medal. This was followed by the signing ceremony between NMA and Sir Edmund Hillary Mountain Legacy Medal project for the distribution of Sir Edmund Hillary Mountain Legacy Medal on the occasion of International Mountain Day on 11th December at International Mountain Museum, Pokhara. Hon'ble Minister Bina Magar, Minister for Water Supply inaugurated the program by lighting the lamp. The Chief Guest also distribute following award and cash prize to the institute and the individuals. National Sagarmatha Award Rs. 1,00,000/- Nepal Mountaineering Instructors' Association Chief Guest also handover Guinness World Record Certificates to the most ascents of Everest is 61 by 7 Nepalese siblings of Mr. Nima Chhiri Sherpa and Mrs. Pema Futi Sherpa. Finally the program concluded with the vote of thanks by Mr. Krishna Prasad Devkota, Chairman for International Sagarmatha Day Main Organizing Committee and Secretary of Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation.
