Protocol agreement signed- 8 May 2012

The protocol signed between Nepal Mountaineering Association and Nagno Mountaineering Association in 2005 was signed in a revised form on 8 May 2012. Dr. Ganesh Raj Joshi, Secretary for Tourism & Civil Aviation was the chief guest for the program. His Excellency Kunio Takahashi, Ambassador of Japan to Nepal was also present in the program. Fifteen officials from Nagano Mountaineering Association, government officials were also present in the program. In the vote of thanks delivered by NMA President, he briefed about the mountaineering training, environment conservation activities of NMA. He also shade light on International Mountain Museum and International Mountaineers' Memorial Park, Kakani.

Prestigious international award for Dawa Steven- 8 May 2012

NMA' Executive Board Member Dawa Steven Sherpa has been awarded the first ever WWF International President's Award during a special ceremony at global conservation organization WWF's Annual Conference in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. Mr. Steven is WWF Nepal's Climate Ambassador under the 'Climate For Life' campaign in 2010 in which Dawa joined hands with legendary mountaineer Apa Sherpa to embark on an expedition through 10 European cities to raise awareness about the impacts of climate change in the Himalayas. He is also the convener of Environment Conservation Committee.

Basic Mountaineering Course 2012- 23 May 2012

Nepal Mountaineering Association decided to conduct its regular training program Basic Mountaineering Course 2012 from 12 June. Thirty-six Nepalese trainees with four foreign nationals are expected to participate in the training program. The application form is distributed from NMA - Secretariat and last date for the submission of the form is 10 June 2012. Interview dates are 12 and 13 June 2012 and it will be held at NMA Secretariat. Registration fee for Nepalese national is Rs 7500 and US $ 2000 for the foreign nationals.

5th Int'l Sagarmatha Day observed- 29 May 2012

Ministry of Culture, Tourism & Civil Aviation organized various programs to mark 5th International Sagarmatha (Mt. Everest) day on 29 May. The program was supported by Nepal Tourism Board, Nepal Mountaineering Association, TAAN and other travel related organizations. The morning procession led by Dr. Ganesh Raj Joshi, Secretary for Culture, Tourism & Civil Aviation started from Thamel and ended at Nepal Tourism Board. After morning procession, blood donation program was organized at Npal Tourism Board.

Morning procession to mark 5th Int'l Sagarmatha Day

The official program was organized at NTB premises under the presence of Hon'ble Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Post Bahadur Bogati as chief guest. The first cancellation mark was also put on the stamp published by Nepal Philatelic to mark the day. The certificates were also distributed to the eight participants of High Mountain Rescue Training conducted by Nepal Mountaineering Association and Nepal Instructors' Association. On the same day, the chief guest also awarded Tenzing Hillary Award to Mr. Sunar Gurung for his contribution in the promotion of mountain tourism through the involvement in mountaineering training activities. Mr. Sunar is also the first guide from Nepal recognized by International Federation of Mountain Guide Association (IFMGA). Namche Festival 2012 was also organized at Namceh to mark the same occasion. Different types of cultural programs, food festival, para gliding, rock climbing, heli sightseeing etc were organized at Namche. The Joint Commission of Sagarmatha Development Committee also took place on that day. Different government officials and NMA officials also participated in the program.

Himalayan Outdoor Festival 2012- 31 May 2012

Himalayan Outdoor Festival 2012 is going to be organized from 1-3 June 2012 at Hattiban. The three festival includes train running, rock climbing,, mountain biking, acrobatic paragliding etc. NMA is also associated with the festival as one of the major partner. The basic aim of the festival is to organizing programs, which will not affect environment and promote the involvement of local people in the conservation of natural environment.

43rd Anniversary of CTMA

NMA President Mr. Zimba Zangbu Sherpa and Immediate Past President Mr. Ang Tshering Sherpa are participating in the program in Taiwan to be organized to mark 43rd Anniversary of Chinese Taipei Mountaineering Association on 2 June 2012.

Monitoring of different projects- 29 May 2012

NMA Secretary Diwas Pokhrel monitored different projects operated with the financial assistance of NMA in Khumbu region (Lukla to Gokyo). Bridge at Thadakoshi and Larcha Dovan, mattress for Machhermo Porter Management Committee, battery for Pheriche Health Clinic, Gokyo Porter Shelter are some financially assisted major projects.

Namche Fesival - 29 May 2012

NMA Secretary Diwas Pokhrel, Executive Board Member Devendra Wagle and staff Madhu Basnet attended Namche Festival organized on the occasion of International Sagarmatha Day .
