Foundation Stone Laying Ceremony - 6 March 2017 NMA President Ang Tshering Sherpa laid down the foundation stone of newly proposed secretariat bulding on 6 March in the special program at Naxal, Kathmandu in the presence of snow leopard Ang Rita Sherpa, World record speed climber Pemba Sherpa, Maya Sherpa- President, Everest Summiteers' Association, Member of first expedition to Mt. Everest 1953 Kanchha Sherpa. The six storey building will have exhibition hall for mountaineering artifacts, climbing wall, conference and other modern facilities. Executive board members, advisers and other well wishers of NMA were also present in the ceremony. Toni Hagen Photo Exhibition inaugurated-9 March 2017: Photos taken by Toni Hagen during (1951-1956 AD) were exhibited in temporary hall of International Mountain Museum, Pokhara on 22nd March 2017 (9th Chaitra 2073, Wednesday). The exhibition was inaugurated by former Vice chancellor of Kathmandu University, Prof Dr. Suresh Raj Sharma. After the inauguration, official program started from the welcome speech of Ist Vice President of NMA and convener of IMM Committee, Mr Santa Bir Lama. Dr. Katrin Hagen, daughter of Toni Hagen, President of Toni Hagen Foundation, Dr. P. K. Jha also put forward their remarks. All high level officials, tourism professionals, education professors, NMA/IMM members attended the program. Prof Sharma highlighted the contribution of Toni Hagen for Nepal who introduced Nepal to rest of the world. Finally, Chair of the Program, Mr. Ang Tshering Sherpa, President of NMA concluded the program followed by a documentary show "UHILEKO NEPAL" of Toni Hagen. Winter Component of Mountain Leader Course concluded. Winter Component of Mountain Leader was conducted in Kathmandu and Langtang from 26 Feb 2017 - 11 March 2017 under the supervision of UIAA Training Panel Chairman Steve Long. There were nine participants for the training. |
