World Environment Day- 5 June 2006

On the occasion of World Environment Day-5th June, Environment Committee of NMA organized a cleaning campaign at Nag Pokhari, Naxal and its surrounding area. NMA President Mr. Ang Tshering Sherpa along with Executive Board Members and NMA staffs were also present on the occasion. The main purpose of cleaning campaign was to create awareness in and among the people of our neighborhood about the environment.

Secretariat Meeting- 5 June 2006

NMA Secretariat meeting on 5th June formed a core group under the convenership of Mr. Zimba Zangbu Sherpa- Ist Vice President of NMA in a response to the letter sent by Trekking Agents' Association of Nepal (TAAN) in order to discuss on some major issues. The core group consists Mr. Bhumi Lal Lama- IInd Vice President, Mr. Narhari Bhandari- Secretary, Mr. Ang Kaji Sherpa- Treasurer and Mr. Deepak Poudel- Executive Board Member.

The meeting also decided to provide Rs. 25,000.00 (Twenty Five Thousand) to Nepal River Conservation Trust for 3rd Annual Bagamati Eco Challenge to held on 19 August 2006.

The meeting also decided to continue the financial support to Kakani Ganesh High School, Kakni.

ENSA Training - 9 June

NMA endorsed the decision of Training & Expedition Committee of the selection of three students for the mountaineering course conducted by ENSA in Chamonix, France. The duration of training is from 24 July 2006- 16 August 2006. The three students are Mr. Tendi Sherpa, Mr. Krishna Bahadur Gurung and Ms. Pasang Lhamu Sherpa.

UAAA- Council Meeting -10-11 June 2006

A delegation led by President Ang Tshering Sherpa to Chinese Taipei to participate in the Council Meeting of Union of Alpine Association of Asia (UAAA). Mr. Deebas Bickram Shah, General Secretary and Mr. Vinaya Shakya, Chief Administrative Officer accompanied him. The meeting was organized by Chinese Taepei Mountaineering Association, Taiwan. The meeting was attended by 11-member country. Among various agendas discussed, spirit of friendship, dignity and moral values towards each other and environment were focused. Competitive climbing as a sport activities were introduced and upon our President's request the council meeting for 2008 in Kathmandu was passed. UIAA structure was also discussed. We are very grateful towards their hospitality.

UIAA Asia Forum 2006- 17 June 2006

NMA President Mr. Ang Tshering Sherpa led a delegation team to New Delhi to participate in UIAA Asia Forum 2006 organized by Indian Mountaineering Federation. Mr. Bhumi Lal Lama- IInd Vice President, Mr. Deebas Bickram Shah- General Secretary, Mr. Narhari Bhandari- Secretary, Executive Board Members- Mr. Lok Bahadur Khatri and Dr. Hari Shrestha accompanied him. Mr. Pierre HUMBLET, Acting President of UIAA chaired the meeting. The new revision of the statute was presented and discussed upon, which was to be forwarded to Europe and South America forum later in this year.

Farewell bid- 18 June 2006

A farewell bid was given to out going NMA staff Mr. Dibesh Raj Bista on 18 June 2006. He is leaving for his further study abroad.

NMA welcomed New Tourism Minister-19 June 2006

NMA President Mr. Ang Tshering Sherpa led a delegation team to visit Hon'ble Minister Pradeep Gyawali, Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation (MoCTCA). Mr. President congratulated & welcomed Hon'ble Minister for his new office. During the meeting, NMA team shade light on the different activities carried out by NMA for the promotion and conservation of mountain and mountaineering in Nepal. The delegation team also clarified with Hon'ble Minister on some of the major issues raised by Trekking Agents' Association of Nepal (TAAN) and Nepal Mountaineering Federation (NMF) against NMA in recent years. In the meeting, the need of a joint effort to sustain and restore peace and democracy for the welfare of the country was mentioned. Therefore, he urged all the travel related associations to create and develop new approach regarding the competitive and fertile tourism environment for the development of total tourism in Nepal.
