Interaction Program at NTB-9 July

Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA) in coordination with Journalists’ Association for Tourism-Nepal (JAT-Nepal) organized an interaction program on “Present Scenario of Nepal’s Mountain Tourism and it’s Challenges” on 9th July 2015 at Nepal Tourism Board. The program attended by Hon’ble Minister for Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Mr. Kripasur Sherpa as chief guest, started with the welcome speech from Devi Panta, President of JAT-Nepal. During this program Mr. Bhumi Lal Lama, Convener of Environment Conservation Committee presented on the topic “Present Scenario of Nepal’s Mountain Tourism and its challenges". Commentator for the presentation Mr. Ramesh Dhamala, President of TAAN and Mr. Pemba Gyalje Sherpa, Immediate Past President of Nepal National Mountain Guide Association commented on the presentation. The program was concluded with the vote of thanks by NMA President Ang Tshering Sherpa.

Half Day seminar on Mountain Tourism Safety-15 July

Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA) in partnership with New Zealand High Commission, SAMARTH-NMDP and UKAID organized a half-day seminar on "Seminar on Mountain Tourism Safety" on 15 th July 2015 at Hotel Hayat, Boudha.

The seminar discussed on the issues related with accidents on mountains and its effect on the communities living in mountain regions. Some of the accidents occurred in previous years on our mountains have seriously affected on the profession of people, whose life is highly depended on mountain and mountaineering. Natural calamity is not predictable, but some issues that plays major roles in stopping such accidents minimizing the effect on the mountain people was also discussed.

NMA members, all the stakeholders of mountain tourism sectors, diplomats and personalities from different government sectors participated in the seminar. The program was initiated with a warm welcome speech by President of NMA, Mr. Ang Tshering Sherpa. The Chief Guest Hon'ble Minister for Culture, Tourism & Civil Aviation Kripasur Sherpa inaugurated the first session of the seminar by lighting the panas. Ms. Lisa Choegyal, New Zealand Honorary Consul to Nepal explained about the objectives of the interaction program followed by vote of thanks from Mr. Wouter Schalken, Tourism Manager, Samarth.

In the second session, David Bamford, International Advisor & Facilitator creating tourism opportunities for individuals & countries floored his presentation on "An Overview of Mountain Tourism Safety in Nepal". The program ended with the question and answer session after the program moderator Dr. Ganesh Gurung opened the floor.

Slovenian Ambassador to Nepal visit at NMA-23 July

Her Excellency Mrs. Darja Bavdaž -Kuret, Slovenian Ambassador to Nepal paid courtesy visit at NMA Secretariat on 23 July 2015. NMA Executive Board led by its President Mr. Ang Tshering Sherpa explained her about the objectives and programs of NMA during the visit.

Interaction program organized in Pokhara -14 & 15 July

NMA's Environment Conservation Committee in coordination with International Mountain Museum organized the interaction program on "Global Warming and Climate Change" on 14th and 15th of July 2015 at Kumudini Homes and Ratna Jyoti Higher Secondary School in Pokhara. Convener of the Environment Conservation Committee, Mr. Bhumi Lal Lama and member Mr. Awadesh Kumar Das presented paper on Global Warming and Climate Change. Mr. Sarki Tamang, member of this committee also actively participated in the program. The students of both the schools participated interestingly in the floor discussion of the interaction program.

Discussion Program at Naxal Banquet on 27 July 2015

NMA organized a discussion program about NMA's current scenario with its general members, board members, presidents and representative of various organizations and resource members at Naxal Banquet on 27th July 2015, Monday. In the Program all together 347 members were present.

1^st Vice president of NMA, Mr. Santa Bir Lama delivered a welcome speech in the program. Mr. Bhumi Lal Lama; former General Secretary and IInd Vice President and Convener of Environment Conservation Committee presented the slide show on objectives and activities of NMA. Acting President of Nepal National Mountain Guide Association (NNMGA), Mr. Pasang Sherpa put the light on relationship between NNMGA and NMA. He also described about the important role of in producing skilled human resources for the mountain tourism of Nepal. Treasurer of NMA Mr. Tikaram Gurung presented his paper on economic activities and financial regulation of NMA. In the Program Senior Advocate Mr. Harihar Dahal declared that NMA has full authority to collect the service charge as per the tourism act 2035. Chief Advisor of NMA, Ms Yankila Sherpa; President of TAAN, Mr. Ramesh Dhamala; Former cabinet members, Ang Dawa Sherpa and Jib Tshering Lama; former President of NMA, Mr Tek Chandra Pokhrel and many more personalities from different organizations, general members, representative from resource members and tourism related people provided suggestions and willingness to support NMA.

From the discussion program following main suggestions were received:
□ NMA should play an important role in securing the safety, security and the rights of the climbers.
□ NMA should pay attention towards the family of the climbers.
□ NMA should make plan and policies regarding the mountain environment conservation.
□ NMA's annual trainings should be continued annually.
□ NMA's should play vital role in maintaining the trails of the climbing roots.
□ All the tourism sectors should unite and play important role in bringing tourism revolution.
□ All the private sectors and government sectors including Nepal Tourism Board should go parallel with fine coordination to develop the tourism sector.
