UAAA Council Meeting & UAAA Joint Expedition- 7th July 2011A press conference was held on 7th July 2011 about NMA's participation in the Council Meeting of UAAA on 18 June 2001 and UAAA Joint Expedition 2011, 19 -30 June 2011. NMA President Mr. Zimba Zangbu Sherpa, Executive Board Member / Everest Summiteer Ms. Usha Bista and Mr. Nima Gombu Sherpa, General Member of NMA had successfully ascended Mt. Kheutan, the highest peak of Mongolia on 23 June 2011. Ms Usha Bista has become the first Nepali woman to ascend the peak in Mongolia. NMA President informed that all the members of UAAA had participated in the Council Meeting. The Power point slide show to Expedition of Mt. Kheutan and other activities has shown during the conference and there were various agendas discussed at the end.
Mountain Rescue Training completed- 4 JulyNMA conducted Mountain rescue training in Khumbu region for the locals from 20 June to 4 July 2011. The training is intended to reduce the risk in adventure activities by providing appropriate trainings for those people involved in low and high land trekking, mountaineering expedition and other activities in Nepal. Executive Board Member Mr. Ang Dawa Sherpa represented NMA as observer for the training and Co-convener of Training & Expedition Committee Mr. Lhakpa Norbu Sherpa was also involved in the training. Memorandum of understanding signed- 10 JulyNMA signed Memorandum of understanding for five years with Nepal National Mountain Guide Association on 10 July to conduct professional Mountain Guide Training of the Aspirant Guide and Mountain Guide courses. Basic Mountaineering Course completed -21 JulyThe participants of Basic Mountaineering Course 2011 returned Kathmandu on 21 July after completing 19- day long training on trekking, glacier training / ice climbing in Manang region.
