Mt. Everest Diamond Jubilee Celebration

Ministry of Culture, Tourism & Civil Aviation has formed committee for the programs to conduct on the occasion of completion of sixty years of first ascent of Mt. Everest on 29 May 2013 i.e. Mt. Everest Diamond Jubilee Celebration. Government of Nepal is planning to invite world famous Everest Nepalese and international mountaineers to attend the felicitation program and other events to be organized on the occasion of the celebration.

2013 UIAA Ice Climbing World Cup & World Championship

NMA President Zimba Zangbu Sherpa represented NMA in 2013 UIAA Ice Climbing World Cup & World Championship held on 12 & 13 January 2013 in Cheongsong, Korea.

Nepal India Tourism Mart

Nepal Tourism Board organized Nepal Tourism Mart in Lumbini on 15 & 16 Jan 2013. NMA representatives Ang Tshering Sherpa- Immediate Past President, Mr. Santa Bir Lama- IInd Vice President, Mr. Deebas Bikram Shah- General Secretary, Jinesh Sindurakar- Chief Administrative Officer participated in the program. Hon'ble Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Posta Bahadur Bogati inaugurated the program.

NMA Trek Leader course concluded

NMA Trek Leader course with 16 participants conducted from 15- 25 Jan at Kathmandu and Kakani was concluded. The training was conducted with the joint cooperation of Petzl Foundation, France.

Advance Mountaineering Course 2012/2013 completed

NMA's annual program Advance Mountaineering Course was completed and returned Kathmandu on 30 Jan 2013. The training started from 19 Dec 2012 in Kathmandu with 24 students, 08 instructors, 01 equipment in-charge, 01 coordinator and 01 doctor left for Lantang for further training on 6 Jan 2013.

Icefall doctor Ang Nima Sherpa no more

Khumbu Ice fall Doctor Ang Nima Sherpa passed away on25th January 2013 at 6:30 pm at the age of 59. He was one of the oldest serving sherpa for the Mt.Everest - Khumbu Ice fall doctors. He died in his home village of Pangboche. The 'Icefall Doctors' are sherpas who set and maintain the safest path through the Icefall by laying down a series of ladders across the crevasses. He was paid Rs 7000 per month by NMA under its welfare program for his effort in the smooth operation of expedition in the Himalayas. On behalf of NMA, President Zimba Zangbu Sherpa gave Rs 1 lac for his family for the cremation activity.
