Central Secretariat Meeting - 7 January 2007

Central Secretariat Meeting held on 7 January 2007 decided to provide financial assistance of twenty-five thousand to TAAN, Pokhara Chapter for 8th Open Paragliding Championship 2007.

Central Executive Board Meeting- 14 January 2007

The Board Meeting held on 14 January 2007 decided that NMA's IInd Vice President Mr. Bhumi Lal Lama and Executive Board Member Dr. Hari Prasad Shrestha would participate in the preparatory meeting of publication of profile of UAAA in Japan from 18-21 Jan 2007. Mr. Lama is the editor of the profile while Dr. Shrestha is the convener of Publication Committee of NMA. The profile is going to be published on the occasion of UAAA's 13th Anniversary in 2007.

The Board Meeting decided to take necessary action against Mr. Pasang Sherpa, who illegally used the logo and name of NMA. He was found to have been involved in assuring job guarantee at NMA and taking money from people in the name of NMA, UNDP and Eco-Himal.

The board meeting also decided to grant Institutional Member of NMA to UNITRAV .

Dr. Harka Gurung Corner in IMM - 21 January 2007

In order to display materials reflecting the life history of late Dr. Harka Gurung, NMA is establishing Dr. Harka Gurung's corner at IMM. The corner attempts to shed light on the life of Dr. Gurung through the display of his books including his used materials. The corner will be inaugurated by Hon'ble Legislature Mahadev Gurung on 5 February 2007 in coincidence with the 3rd anniversary of International Mountain Museum.

Certificate Distribution- 29 January 2007

Certificate distribution program was organized on 29 January 2007 for the instructors of Introductory Mixed Climbing Training jointly organized by NMA and Alex Lowe Charitable Foundation at Khumbu Climbing School, Phortse from 16- 25 January 2007. NMA President, in his welcome speech informed about importance, necessity of the training for the development of mountaineering profession as a safe and reliable profession. Ms. Jennifer Lowe, President, Alex Lowe Charitable Foundation said that 60 students had participated in the training and assured foundation's cooperation for the continuation of such type of program in the coming years.
