14th Anniversary celebration of International Mountain Museum:

Nepal Mountaineering Association celebrated (NMA) the 14th anniversary of its biggest project; International Mountain Museum (IMM) situated at Pokhara-17, Gharipatan. IMM 's 14th anniversary helds on 5th Febraury. Hon'ble Minister for Culture Tourism and Civil Aviation Mr.Jiwan Bahadur Shahi, the chief guest inaugurated the program by offering garland on the monument of three founder members of IMM followed with the flag hosting. Chief Guest Hon'ble Minister for Culture Tourism and Civil Aviation Mr. Jiwan Bahadur Shahi and President of UAAA jointly inaugurated UAAA corner in the exhibition hall of IMM. High level government officials, Korean delegates, NMA executives & advisors, representative from tourism related organization, tourism entrepreneurs were present in the program.

On the auspicious occasion of its 14th Anniversary NMA organized an interaction program "Doing it Differently" in association with Pokhara Development Council (PDC) was also organized. The program observed one minute silence in the memory of all the deceased national and international mountaineers. After the welcome speech from General Secretary, Mr. Thakur Raj Pandey, Santa Bir Lama, 1st Vice President & Convener- IMM Committee presented the progress report of IMM. In the interaction program, Mr Douglas Maclagan: Founder of Pavilions Himalayas, a high end eco-resort in Pokhara; Mr Takashi Miayahara: Social entrepreneur and politician; Mr Dawa Steven Sherpa: Tourism entrepreneur and environmental activist, renowned in tourism sector for doing things differently shared their inspirational stories, with open floor interaction. There were near about 200 participants from different sectors. In the same program, the chief guest felicitated the IMM Best Staff- Ms. Srijana Gauchan and journalist of National News Agency Mr. Hari Bastola for his contribution for the promotion of IMM & recently retired staff- Ms. Mangal Subba Nepali.

Visit of Saipal and Api Chapter 5-13 Feb 2017

NMA President Ang Tshering Sherpa led the representatives of NMA for the visit of Saipal and Api Chapter. The other members of the team are :Dr. Hari Prasad Shrestha, Board Member IndireshDahal, Director, Department of Tourism, BimalNaharki, Board Member, L P Sherpa, President, Makalu Chapter, Bhumi Lal Lama, Convener, Environment Conservation Committee, Jinesh Sindurakar, CAO and Member Secretary, Peak Profile Preparation Committee, Pramod Prasad Kafle, Inspector, Armed Police Force, Anil Adhikari, Major, Nepal Army and ShyamBhatta, President, Api Chapter, CAHC. President Ang Tshering Sherpa inaugurated NMA chapter in Darchula Area- Api Chapter. The local people exhibited different cultural programs and songs. In the address by NMA President, he mentioned about the objectives behind the opening of chapter in Darchula and how it can be mobilized for the development of tourism in this area. He also informed about the team, who are currently in Api and Saipal mountain area to take photographs of different mountains. He also requested the local people to share information about the mountains to NMA through Api chapter so that these information can be incorporated in peak profile. Government officials of Darchula district, representatives of different political parties, teachers, students and local people expressed their satisfaction for the establishment of NMA chapter in the far western region of Nepal. In the vote of thanks by Api Chapter, its President Prem Singh Dhami thanked NMA for taking initiating to open chapter in Darchula. He also hoped it will definitely help in the promotion of mountains of Api range and assured his cooperation for peak profile through Api chapter.

During the visit, NMA delegation also observed the historic palace of Jayaprithvinagarwith keen interest and discussed the preservation of this palace can be one of the tourism product for this area. The sight seen of mountains of Saipal range, landscape and hills from Jayaprithvinagar is just marvelous and amazing. NMA delegation also discussed with Mr. Katak whether he has initiated procedure to get permission from the government for the proposed land.

4th Park Young Seok Open Climbing Competition (Bouldering M&W)

NMA also organized the 4th Park Young Seok Open Climbing Competition (Bouldering M&W) on 4th & 5th Feb of 2017 on the newly built climbing wall. The chief guest and President of UAAA awarded cash with certificate to the six male & female winners of the competition.

Plenary Assembly of IFSC ACC- 23 Feb

The Plenary Assembly of IFSC ACC concluded in Thailand on 23 February 2017. NMA IInd VP and Convener- Sport Climbing Committee Deebas Bickram Shah represented NMA in the meeting. NMA feels honor to have Mr. Shah elected as Vice President for ACC in the assembly.
