Pokhara World Peace Pooja 2016- Post Earthquake Revival of Tourism Through Culture and Religion

Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA) organized a megha tourism event "Pokhara World Peace Pooja " with the theme of "Post Earthquake Revival of Tourism Through Culture and Religion" in Pokhara from 2nd to 4th February 2016.

2nd February
A conference on "Post-Earthquake Reviving Tourism through Culture and Tourism" was organized at International Mountain Museum (IMM), Pokhara. High level government officials, members of NMA and IMM along with representative from different tourism related organization were present during the program. The paper was presented by former National Planning Commission Dr. Pushkar Bajracharya, which was commented by Director General Gobinda Bahadur Karki, Department of Tourism, former CEO of Nepal Tourism Board Prachanda Shrestha and Tika Ram Sapkota, former member of Nepal Tourism Board. The program started with welcome speech by Yankila Sherpa-Chairman of Pokhara World Peace Pooja and concluded with the closing remarks by NMA President.

3rd February
After being elected as first lady President of Nepal, Rt. Hon'ble President Mrs. Bidhya Devi Bhandari visited IMM on 3 Feb. During her visit, she inaugurated the statues of founder President late Kumar Khadka Bickram Shah, former chief adviser late Dr. Harka Gurung and former President late Dawa Norbu Sherpa. These are three personalities, who contributed for the establishment of International Mountaineering Museum at Pokhara. She also hoisted flags of International Mountain Museum, Union of Asian Alpine Association (UAAA) and Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA). After flag hoisting, she also observed World Peace Pooja 2016 organized in presence of His Holiness 41st Sakya Trizin Rinpoche, one of the 4th highest ranking Buddhist Gurus of Buddhism. The President was offered Khada from Rinpochhe. There were more than 3000 visitors who came to receive blessing from Rinpochhe from different part of Nepal and other countries. In the speech delivered by the President, she expressed her happiness to be part of the pooja and hoped it will bring peace and prosperity in Nepal. She also appreciated the displays of mountaineering artifacts in IMM and said that it can be developed as source of information on mountain, mountaineering and mountain people.

4 Feb
On the third day of Pokhara World Peace Pooja, mendal kusum was offered to Rinpochhe. Then, Rinpochhe gave Riksum Gombo Wang to all the public present in the program to receive blessing from the guru.

5 Feb - 13th IMM Day
NMA celebrated 13th International Mountain Museum (IMM) day on 5th February, 2016 at IMM. Pokhara. Members from NMA and IMM along with the representatives from tourism related organization participated in the program. The chief guest for the program was adviser Dr. Ganesh Gurung and it was chaired by NMA President. The program started with the offering of garland by all the guests, board members, staff to the statues of founder President late Kumar Khadka Bickram Shah, former chief adviser late Dr. Harka Gurung and former President late Dawa Norbu Sherpa for their contribution the establishment of IMM. Then the chief guest hoisted NMA and IMM flag in the IMM premises. Ist VP and Convener of IMM committee Mr. Santa Bir Lama presented the progress report of IMM. Chief Guest Dr. Ganesh Gurung put forward his view regarding the future development of the museum. In the same program, honorable constituent member Mr. Laxman Rajbansi and president of Concern Nepal Mr. Gyanendra Adhikari were felicitated for their valuable support and contribution to establish the statue of late Dr. Harka Gurung. The program concluded with the vote of thanks by NMA President.

Successful Completion of Helicopter Marshal Course 2016 - 14 Feb
Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA) added another training course in its calendar called Helicopter Marshal Course from this year. The course was organized with an objective to train about the usage of helicopter during rescue activities in mountain region. The three day training started from 12th February 2016 and ended on 14th February 2016 was organized at Kathmandu and International Mountaineers' Memorial Park, Kakani for 59 participants.

Sanjay Pandit felicitated- 14 Feb
Nepal Mountaineering Association organized felicitation program for the Nepalese mountaineer Sanjay Pandit on 14 Feb at International Mountaineers' Memorial Park, Kakni for his successful climbing of Mount Kilimanjaro by climbing backward.

Special pooja at IMMP- 14 Feb
International Mountaineers' Memorial Park Committee organized special program on 14 Feb at IMMP Park to change lungdar.

IFSC PA 2016- 21 Feb
On behalf of Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA) IInd Vice President and Convener of Sports Climbing Committee Mr. Deebas Bikram Shah participated in Plenary Assembly of International Federation of Sports Climbing (IFSC) held in Iran from 18- 21 Feb 2016.

Felicitation to Phupu Lhamu Khatri-24 Feb 2016
Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA) organized felicitation program to Phupu Lhamu Khatri for her success to win Gold Medal for Nepal in the Judo category in the 12th South Asian Games held in India from 5-16 February 2016.She is the daughter of executive board member late Dorje Khatri, who died in the avalanche in Everest in 2014.

Successfully completion of NMA Mountain Leader Summer Component II-21st February
Nepal Mountaineering Association successfully conducted NMA Mountain Leader Summer Component II from 21st February to 1 st March 2016. This was an assessment course for 15 participants of NMA Mountain Leader Summer Component I conducted from 23rd August to 3rd September 2015.

Successful completion of Wilderness First Responder course (WFR)
Nepal Mountaineering Association organized a Wilderness First Responder Course (WFR) from 1-10 February 2016 at Kakani Scout Training Center. There were total 15 participant out of them 10 were Mountain Guide/Aspirant Guides. During the training there were two instructors from National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS) Wilderness Medicine Institute and one instructor from Nepal.
