6th IMM day celebrated- 9 FebSixth Anniversary of International Mountain Museum (IMM) was celebrated on 6 Feb 2009 with the slogan of "Museum for Tourism". The chief guest, famous social activist of Pokhara, Mr. George John inaugurated the program by hoisting the IMM flag in the premises. Museum Chief, Mr. Bal Prasad Rai highlighted on the development activities carried out in IMM in the fiscal year 2064/065. ICIMOD presented documentary show on Himalaya- Changing landscapes in the same program and also informed about their future plan to upgrade its corner. The chief guest mentioned in his speech about the importance of mountain museum for the development of tourism in Pokhara. He also appreciated the display of mountaineering artifacts in the museum. Finally, Mr. Jyoti Adhikari- Convener, IMM Committee thanked the entire guest for their gracious presence in the ceremony and requested for the assistance from all the sectors to promote museum. 6th IMM Day Minister visited IMM- 19 FebHon'ble Minister for Tourism and Civil Aviation Hisila Yami visited International Mountain Museum on 19 Feb 2009. Ms. Brinda Hada, Secretary for Ministry of Women, Children and Social Welfare and various tourism professionals from Pokhara accompanied her to visit the museum. She was very impressed by the display of mountaineering artifacts in the museum and expressed that IMM should be developed as the national asset. She assured support from the ministry for the promotion of the museum globally. New Executive Board at NNMGA- 19 Feb 2009A new Executive Board led by President Mr. Sunar Gurung was formed at an institutional member of NMA, Nepal National Mountain Guide Association (NNMGA) on 19 Feb 2009. The board is comprised of Mr. Padam Ghale- Vice President, Mr. Pemba Gyalzen Sherpa- General Secretary, Mr. Lakpa Sherpa- Secretary and Mr. Pasang Sherpa- Treasurer. Mr. Ang Norbu Sherpa, Mr. Da Gombu Sherpa, Mr. Prem Bahadur Gurung and Mr. Lakpa Kitar Sherpa are the members of Executive Board. New rate fixed for Khumbu Icefall- 20 Feb 2009After government's decision the maximum number of member that can be included in the expedition team is 15, then a meeting held on 20 Feb 2009 decided to fix rate for the usage of Khumbu Icefall route for the team members from 13-15 as US$ 3750. The rate for the team members from 1-12 remains unchanged. The meeting was called by Sagarmatha Pollution Control Committee. The newly fixed rate is as follows.
If the expedition team receives permit for more than one peak, then they need to pay fee for icefall route once.
