Final verdict in favor of NMA- 3 August 2016
The Supreme Court issued final verdict on 3 August on the decision of Government of Nepal regarding the withdrawal of authority of Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA) to issue climbing permits for 27 mountains.
Government of Nepal authorized NMA on 18 January 1978 to issue permits on the basis of service charges for 18 peaks between 5,587 meter to 6,654 meter in the Manang, Annapurna, Langtang and Khumbu area. On 16 Sep 2002, NMA was shouldered upon the responsibility by Government of Nepal to issue mountaineering permits to 15 more new peaks to climbers and mountaineers. These peaks are also known as the NMA Climbing Peaks. After the decision of government to waive royalty for the mountains below 5800m, currently NMA is issuing permits for 27 mountains. The cabinet decision taken on 9 Oct 2015 cancelled its authority to issue climbing permits and since then, it was issued by Department of Tourism. 
The final verdict released by the respected Supreme Court on Aug 2016 instructed Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation not to follow the cabinet decision of 9 Oct 2015, which paved the way for NMA to continue in issuing climbing permits.
Selection of Sports Climbing Committee in Olympics-4 August 2016
Nepal Mountaineering Association, full member of IFSC ( International Federation of Sport Climbing) since 2007 is proud to announce that 129th International Olympics Committee session in Rio Do Janerio has approved sports climbing event for Tokyo 2020.NMA congratulates Mr. Marco Maria Scocaris, President of IFSC and his team for all their hard work.
Distribution of Relief Material – 10 August 2016
Nepal Mountaineering Association distributed different relief material to the flood victims of Saptari district. On behalf of NMA Members of NMA Environment Committee distributed foods and tarpaulins to the victims.
                   
 
11th AGM of Annapurna Chapter completed- 13 August 2016
In the special program organized on 13 Aug, Director General of Department of Tourism Sudershan Prasad Dhakal inaugurated 11th AGM of Annapurna Chapter. It is the first chapter of NMA opened outside Kathmandu. NMA President Ang Tshering Sherpa, I st Vice President Santa Bir Lama, Treasurer Tika Ram Gurung and CAO Jinesh Sindurakar also participated in the program. The AGM also selected new executive board led by Krishna Kafle for the next three year.
 
Visit of Gurung museum in Lamjung-14 August 2016
NMA representatives led by its President Ang Tshering Sherpa monitored Gurung Museum in Lamjung. They also supervised the statue of late Dr. Harka Gurung established in the premises of the museum. NMA is the major financial contributor for the establishment of Dr. Gurung 's statue and some development works at museum.
 
Mt. Makalu and Kanchenjungha Main Organizing Committee Meeting-24 August 2016
Mt. Makalu and Kanchenjungha Main Organizing Committee meeting was held on 24th August 2016 at Nepal Tourism Board in presence of the Mr. Prem Kumar Rai, Chairman of the main organizing committee and Secretary for Ministry of Culture Tourism and Civil Aviation, CA Members, Representatives from different tourism related organization, and members of this main organizing committee. NMA is the member secretary of the committee. In the meeting, NMA President Ang Tshering Sherpa briefed about the detail program of UAAA General Assembly, Makalu and Kanchhenjunga Diamond Jubilee Celebration and International conference on mountain tourism, climate change and earthquake in Nepal to be held from 18 - 22 November 2016.
                  
 
Chagunarayan Cleaning Campaign and environment awareness program-28 August 2016
NMA in coordination with HAT-Nepal organized Chagunarayan cleaning campaign and environment awareness program on 22 Aug 2016. The students of the local school and local people actively participated in the program.
                
 
Courtesy visit with newly appointed Tourism Minister- 29 August 2016
NMA executive board led by its chief adviser Yankila Sherpa and President Ang Tshering did courtesy visit with newly appointed Minister for Culture, Civil Aviation and Tourism Jeeban Bahadur Shahi. During the meeting, NMA President briefed him about the activities of NMA and upcoming program Makalu Kanchhenjungha Diamond Jubilee Celebration, UAAA GA and International Conference of mountain tourism, climate change and earthquake in Nepal.
 
Announcement of NMA's Annual General Assembly-30th August 2016
NMA announced its 26th Annual General Assembly to be held on 7th September 2016 (22nd Bhadra 2073), Wednesday at 10:00 am at Hotel Yak & Yeti, Durbarmarga.
