NMA office time changed- 5 August

NMA opening office hour will be from 10:00am to 5:00pm with effect from 17 August 2012.

Award Selection Committee formed- 9 August

Nepal Mountaineering Association formed Award Selection Committee to select nominees for Dr. Harka Gurung Mountaineering Award 2011, Kumar Khadga Bikram Mountaineering Adventurous Award 2011 and Dawa Norbu Mountaineering Journalism Award 2011. The committee has Mr. Buddhi Narayan Shrestha as convener with the following members.

NMA Executive Board Meeting decided to call Annual General Meeting on 7 Sep 2012 at Hotel Hyatt, Boudha.

Joint Expedition to Mt. Kamet 2012

NMA has selected the following three experienced climbers for Joint Expedition to Mt. Kamet to be organized Indian Mountain Foundation from 27 Aug - 6 Oct 2012.

1. Mr. Temba Tsheri Sherpa - Everest Summiteer

2. Ms. Pema Diki Sherpa - Everest Summiteer

3. Mr. Shiva Bahadur Sapkota - Up to South Summit (8749 m.)

NMA General Secretary saw them off on 24 Aug in a small program organized at the secretariat.

Felicitation program- 27 Aug

NMA organized a felicitation program in honor of Hon'ble Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Posta Bahadur Bohadur Bogati on 27 Aug 2012. On the same program, Silvio Mondellini- the Italian climber to climb 14 peaks above 8000m without oxygen was also honored. Hon'ble Minister awarded him letter of appreciation for his remarkable achievement in the history of mountaineering. NMA President requested the minister for the quick action on NMA's initiation to open up more peaks and hand over them to NMA for operation. He also briefed him about the ongoing and future activities of NMA.
