Basic Mountaineering Course 2009 - 19 AugustNMA decided to conduct Basic Mountaineering Course 2009 for 84 students in two groups. The training for first group started from 18 August at Kathmandu and left capital for practical training Langtang on 27 August. Similarly, the training for second group will start from 8 September at Kathmandu and will leave for Langtang on 18 September. Mr. Ranjan Krishna Aryal, Convener, NMA Taskforce and other members of taskforce saw the instructors and trainees off at the NMA Secretariat on 27 August morning. The taskforce members wished for the successful completion of both the trainings. NMA staffs Mr. Madhu Basnet and Yadav Gautam are deputed for monitoring the training. Mr. Ngawang Ngima Sherpa and Mr. Pemba Gyalze Sherpa are coordinator and chief instructor for Basic Mountaineering Course 2009 respectively. Scholarship for the children of Babu Chirri Sherpa- 19 AugustNMA Taskforce decided to provide scholarship for the two children of famous mountaineer late Babu Chirri Sherpa. Late Sherpa held the record from 2000 to 2003 for the fastest ascent of Everest: 16 hours and 56 minutes. He had also set the record of spending the most time at the top—21 hours. Babu Chirri died on Everest while trying to make his 11th ascent of the mountain in 2001. Contract renewed- 28 AugustNMA renewed the contract of Sagarmatha Pollution Control Committee (SPCC), Lantang Tourism Development Committee and Mr. Kami Sherpa for the fiscal year 2066/067 on the basis of previous terms and conditions for monitoring of permits issued by NMA for the peaks located at Khumbu and Langtang region and Mr. Sherpa for Mera peak. New Executive Board- 28 AugustThe new executive board election of Trekking Agencies' Association of Nepal (TAAN) was held on 28 August to choose new executive board for two years. The team led by President New Tourism products in Ramechhap- 30 AugustTourism stakeholders meetings cum presentation program was held on 30 August to introduce two new tourism products in Ramechhap district. "Indigenous Peoples Trail ( IP Trail)" in west and "Numbur Cheese Circuit (NCC)" north Ramechhap explored by Local Economic Development Forum (LED Forum) Ramechhap" and Ramechhap Chamber of Commerce and Industry and with the support from ILO/ Empowerment Creation and Peace Building based on Local Economic Development. Mr. Ram Chandra Sedai, tourism consultant for the development of the products briefly presented them in the program for discussion and feedback. Promotion of Nepal Tourism Year 2011- 31 SepA 70-member delegation left for Bangkok today to make preparations for Nepal Tourism Year 2011 (NTY) in collaboration with the Nepalese embassy in Thailand and Nepal Tourism Board. The promotional program at Bangkok is to be jointly inaugurated by Minister for Tourism and Civil Aviation Sharat Singh Bhandari and Thailand's Tourism Minister. The program will be focused on promoting Nepal Tourism Year 2011 and on meeting the target of bringing one million tourists to Nepal in 2011. The objective of the programme is also to highlight the importance of Nepal Tourism Year 2011 among Thai travel agents, tour operators and media. |
