On the occasion of completion of 25th years of establishment of Union of Asian Alpine Association (UAAA), the General Assembly of Union of Asian Alpine Association (UAAA) organized on 7 & 8 Oct 2018 in Mongolia decided to conduct UAAA Joint Paldor Peak Expedition – 2019 in Ruby Valley, Dhading, Nepal. 9 climbers from South Korea, and 5 climbers from Nepal are participating in this historic expedition.

Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA) organized a press meet on 6 April to inform about “UAAA Joint Paldor Peak (5,903m) Expedition – 2019”. The chief guest of the program was Mohan Krishna Sapkota- Secretary of Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation and it was conducted under the chairmanship of NMA President Santa Bir Lama. Director General of Department of Tourism Dandu Raj Ghimire, President of Union Asian Alpine Association (UAAA) Dr. In Jeoung Lee and General Secretary of UAAA Christine Pae were also present in the program. The main objective to organize this expedition was to increase, exchange the technical knowledge on mountaineering and increase brotherhood among the UAAA member federations.

The members of the expedition team left Kathmandu on 7 April 2019 and returned on 15 April 2019. The climbing team also cleaned the trails from Somdang village to Paldor Peak High Camp as well as Paldor Peak. Visit Nepal 2020 Logo banner was taken on the top of peak to let the mountain communities to know.

NMA organized a special program to distribute certificate to the members of the joint expedition on 15 April 2019. Director General of Department of Tourism Dandu Raj Ghimire, Dr. In Jeoung Lee-President, UAAA, Christine Pae- General Secretary, UAAA and Santa Bir Lama- President, NMA were present in the program. Board Members of NMA and journalists were also present in the program conducted by NMA General Secretary Kul Bahadur Gurung. Nine climbers from South Korea and one climber from Nepal are participating in this historic expedition.

IMM opening hour added- 20th April, 2019

The opening hour of Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA)'s International Mountain Museum (IMM) was added for three hours with effect from 7 April 2019. As per the new time schedule, IMM opens daily from 8:00 am - 6:00 pm for the 365 days.

MOU Signed between Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) and Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA) – 22nd April, 2019

Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) and Nepal Mountaineering Association signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to hoist the flag of International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) atop Mt. Everest on the occasion of 75th Anniversary of ICAO. Hon’ble State Minister for Cultural Tourism and Civil Aviation Mr. Dhan Bahadur Budha and Secretary for Cultural Tourism and Civil Aviation Mohan Krishna Sapkota handed Over the ICAO flag to the President of Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA) Santa Bir Lama in presence of members of Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal and Nepal Mountaineering Association.

Mt. Everest Clean-up Campaign 2019

Mt. Everest Clean-up Campaign 2019- 12th April, 2019

On the occasion of 12th International Sagarmatha (Everest) day, Mt. Everest Clean-up Campaign 2019 is going to be organized from 15 April – 5 June 2019 in the joint coordination of Ministry of Culture, Tourism & Civil Aviation (MoCTCA), Department of Forest and Environment, Nepal Tourism Board (NTB), Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA), Nepali Army, Sagarmatha Pollution Control Committee (SPCC), Pasang Lhamu Rural Municipality and Sagarmatha National Park Buffer Zone.

The clean-up campaign is expected to collect 5000 kg of garbage from Mt. Everest and around 5000 kgs from foothills and possibility to manage dead bodies found in Everest region. The garbage collected will be displayed in Namche on International Sagarmatha (Everest) Day – 29 May and then will be segregated into disposable and non-disposable categories. Disposable garbage will be managed and other non-disposable garbage will be handed over to Blue Waste 2 Value for recycle after the display on 5 June (World Environment Day).

Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between International Mountain Museum, Pokhara and National Mountain Museum – 29 April

Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between International Mountain Museum Pokhara and National Mountain Museum, Sokcho, Gangwon Province on 29 April 2019 Monday during the opening ceremony of NMM in Korea. The purpose to sign MoU is for the purpose of having cooperative relations for orders and accomplishment of the contents supply business which takes advantage of the network through business alliance between IMM and NMM. Santa Bir Lama, President-NMA and Jong-min Park, Director- NNM singed on the agreement on behalf of the organizations. Dr. In Jeoung Lee- President and Christine Pae- General Secretary of Union of Asian Alpine Association (UAAA), Sudershan Neupane, Treasurer- NMA and Ram Chandra Karki- Adviser for International Mountain Museum also attended the program.
