Mt. Manaslu and Lhotse Diamond Jubilee Celebration – 2016 (30th April 2016) Civic Reception:
Opening ceremony: The Chief Guest Rt. Hon’ble President Ms. Bidya Devi Bhandari officially inaugurated this program in the presence of Hon'ble Minister Mr. Sherdhan Rai, Ministry of Information and Communication, Mr. Prem Kumar Rai, chairman of Mt. Manaslu and Lhotse Diamond Jubilee celebration main organizing committee and Secretary for Ministry of Culture Tourism and Civil Aviation, Legendary Mountaineer and Mt. Manaslu Summiteer Mr. Minoru Higeta, H. E. Mr. Masashi Ogawa, Ambassador of Japan, H. E. Mr. Urs Herren, Ambassador of Switzerland, President of Japan Alpine Club Mr. Masashi Kobayashi, President of Japan Mountaineering Association Mr. Kunyki Yagihara, Membears and Advisors of NMA, National and international mountaineers and representatives from other tourism related organization. During this program, Rt. Hon'ble President felicitated following summiteers and organization. 1.Mrs. Pasang Lhamu Sherpa for her contribution in the field of mountaineering tourism development by Rt. Hon’ble President Apart from that Rt. Hon' ble President also Released a special issue of Nepal Parbat published on the occasion of Mt. Manaslu and Lhotse Diamond Jubilee. During the program legendary mountaineer Mr. Minoru Higeta shared his memories of First Successful Mt. Manaslu Summit in 1956. H.E Mr. Masashi Ogawa, Ambassador of Japan and H.E. Mr. Urs Herren, Ambassador of Switzerland remarked on the relationship build between Nepal and their countries due to mountaineering activities and hoped this relation will continue in future. Mr. Sherdhan Rai, Hon’ble Minister of Information and Communication addressed the issue of global warming and its effect on mountain, mountaineering and its community and conservation of mountain and mountaineering environment. He also thanked Ministry of Culture Tourism and Civil Aviation for organizing this kind of program as mountaineering is the back bone of tourism industry and this kind of program will help in promotion of tourism. Rt. Hon'ble. President address that by celebrating this kind of Jubilees we are showing our great respect and admiration to our explorers and mountaineers who have put so much time, energy, knowledge and sometimes they have risked their lives for the noble cause of paving a way for their future generations in one hand and in the other had we can draw world media attention to Nepal and promote tourism. At the same time she also expressed that Climate Change is creating problem in our economic and natural asset. Thus she also expressed her thanks for selecting “Prospect of Mountaineering and Mountain Tourism and Challenges of Mountain Environment” as a theme for the conference. Mr. Prem Kumar Rai, chairman of Mt. Manaslu and Lhotse Diamond Jubilee celebration 2016 and Secretary for Ministry of Culture Tourism and Civil Aviation expressed vote of thanks.
Conference on "Challenges and opportunities to promote mountain tourism in Mansalu and Lhotse area" The opening session was followed by the conference organized on the topic "Challenges and opportunities to promote mountain tourism in Mansalu and Lhotse area". The chief guest for this program was Hon'ble State Minister Mr. Bal Bahadur Mahat, MoCTCA. During this program a team from Manaslu presented on "Mountain Tourism Development in Manasalu Area- Challenges and Opportunities" and a team from Lhotse presented on "Mountain Tourism Development in Lhotse Area- Challenges and Opportunities". Along with these presentations Mr. Deepak Sharma Dahal presented regarding the making of peak profile. After all three presentations and floor was opened for discussion and the program was wrapped up by the chair Sudershan Prasad Dhakal, Director General of Department of Tourism. Finally, the President of HAT-Japan handed over a financial support of 23,000.00 USD for the reconstruction of Bhairab Kunda School of Sindhupalchok damaged due to earthquake of 2015.
